Pick-Your-Own Blackberries

Our Practices

Our blackberries are never sprayed with any pesticide. We mow the walkways frequently to keep weeds short. In the winter, we prune the older vines and remove them from the patch. We rely on nature to do the rest!

Picking Season

Blackberry picking begins in mid-August and continues through mid-September.

Picking Tips

Blackberries are the most challenging berry to pick. Unlike strawberries, blackberries need to be perfectly colored to be fully-ripe. If the berry is at all red, it will still taste tart. The easiest way to tell when a blackberry is perfectly ripe is when it has lost its shine and now has a matte finish. If your hands are stained purple after picking, you’re doing it right. The more easily the berry separates from the vine, the sweeter it will be!
