Time is of the essence! For best quality and flavor, fruit should ripen on the vine and be eaten the day it is harvested. Healthy living includes harvesting and eating fruit in small amounts, often. The Greig Farm is happy to harvest everything we grow, weekly for you, for Friday or Saturday pick up.
Sugar Snap and Shell Peas: June
Blueberries: July to mid-August
Apples: September to October
We are again adding a selection of our neighbor's stone fruits. So in addition to what is grown on the Greig Farm, we will have a tasting of apricots, cherries, plums, nectarines and peaches, each in their own season as available.
What’s a CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs developed around the concept of “investing” in local, small-scale farms. Before the start of the season, members sign up for a “share” in the farm and pay up front so the farmer can plan crops accordingly and purchase seed without taking loans. During the harvest season the farm delivers weekly bundles of produce, giving their “investors” a great value on high quality produce.
Off site CSAs offered by Greig Farm:
In addition to offering memberships to those in the Red Hook, New York area, Greig Farm provides CSAs in the metropolitan New York area with the opportunity to participate in weekly distributions of Greig Farm produce. Generally running from May to October, members of these CSAs will receive weekly deliveries of fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, apples and pumpkins) plus asparagus, shell and sugar snap peas all grown at Greig Farm, and a selection of stone fruits (apricots, cherries, plums, nectarines and peaches) grown by our neighbors.
